Lighting
Cameras depend on light to capture images, and the quality your lighting directly affects the quality of your shot. By learning to use three point lighting – a photo and video industry standard – you can dramatically improve the quality of your work.
Three point lighting consists of a key light, a fill light, and a back light. The key light is brightest, and provides your primary illumination. The fill light is dimmer, and fills in shadows caused by the key. The back light, also called a hair light, illuminates the edges and contours of your subject and creates separation from the background.
Tip: If you can’t control the actual brightness of your light sources, you can control how bright they appear on your subject by moving them closer to or farther from the subject.
